Lipscomb's Asadullah, Belmont's Harmeyer garner TSWA accolades

MEN’S BASKETBALL: Lipscomb’s Asadullah earns TSWA Player of the Week
NASHVILLE, Tenn.
– Lipscomb’s Ahsan Asadullah was named the Tennessee Sports Writers Association’s Men’s Basketball Player of the Week, posting 21.5 points, 14.0 rebounds and 8.0 assists in two contests for the Bison.

The Atlanta, Ga., native opened the week with 20 points, 10 rebounds and eight assists in a four-point loss to Jacksonville, hitting 8-of-20 shots overall and 4-for-6 at the foul line. He added one steal and two blocks against the Dolphins.

The sophomore connected on 10-of-23 shots, registering 23 points with a career-high 18 boards and eight assists along with three steals versus North Florida. Asadullah has scored 20-plus points in five of his last seven games and has recorded seven double-doubles this year. As a center, he ranks third in the Atlantic Sun Conference in total assists.

He is averaging 16.4 points, 9.2 rebounds and 3.8 assists in 20 contests this season.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL: Belmont’s Harmeyer named TSWA Player of the Week
NASHVILLE, Tenn.
– Belmont’s Ellie Harmeyer garnered Tennessee Sports Writers Association’s Women’s Basketball Player of the Week accolades, averaging 24.0 points and 17.5 rebounds in a pair of wins for the Bruins.

The Kenosha, Wis., native netted 26 points with 18 rebounds at Murray State, hitting 8-of-14 shots overall with a pair of 3-pointers. She made 8-for-10 at the foul line and added three assists and one block.

Harmeyer collected the winning layup with 1.4 seconds remaining in a win at Austin Peay, finishing with 22 points and 17 boards. The senior connected on 6-of-15 shots and hit all 10 foul shots versus the Govs.

She is averaging 17.9 points and 11.5 rebounds in 19 games this season.

MEN’S BASKETBALL: Union’s Boykin earns TSWA Player of the Week
NASHVILLE, Tenn.
– Union University’s Tyree Boykin was named the Tennessee Sports Writers Association’s Men’s Basketball Player of the Week, posting 25.5 points and 3.5 rebounds in two road victories for the Bulldogs.

The Clarksville, Tenn., native made 8-of-13 shots overall with four 3-pointers and four rebounds in a road win at Delta State. The sophomore guard followed that with 29 points, three boards and three assists at Mississippi College, connecting on 10-of-17 shots from the field, including 8-for-10 from behind the arc.

Boykin is averaging 18.8 points, 2.8 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game in 16 contests this season for Union.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL: Tech’s Brady named TSWA Player of the Week
NASHVILLE, Tenn.
– Tennessee Tech’s Kesha Brady garnered Tennessee Sports Writers Association’s Women’s Basketball Player of the Week accolades, registering 24.0 points, 4.5 rebounds and 4.0 assists in two road wins for the Golden Eagles.

The Smyrna, Tenn., native netted 28 points with four rebounds and three assists in a road victory at SIU Edwardsville, hitting 10-of-16 shots overall with four 3-pointers. The junior guard recorded 20 points, five boards and five assists at Eastern Illinois, adding four more triples and 8-of-9 at the foul line.

Brady is averaging 15.8 points, 5.4 rebounds and 1.9 assists in 17 games this season for Tech.

MEN’S BASKETBALL: Memphis’ Achiuwa earns TSWA Player of the Week
NASHVILLE, Tenn.
– University of Memphis freshman Precious Achiuwa was named the Tennessee Sports Writers Association’s Men’s Basketball Player of the Week, averaging 22.0 points, 11.5 rebounds and 4.5 blocks with a pair of double-doubles for the Tigers.

The Queens, N.Y., native made 8-of-11 shots and 6-for-10 at the foul line, netting 22 points with 12 boards and four blocks at Wichita State. He followed that with 22 points, 11 caroms and five blocks at South Florida, connecting on 9-of-12 shots overall.

Achiuwa is averaging 15.6 points, 10.4 rebounds and 2.0 blocks in 16 games this season for Memphis.

– Carson-Newman’s Kayla Marosites garnered Tennessee Sports Writers Association’s Women’s Basketball Player of the Week accolades, registering 20.5 points and 12.0 rebounds while posting a pair of doubles-doubles for the Eagles.

The Elizabethton, Tenn., native hit 9-of-14 shots with a pair of 3-pointers, finishing with 24 points, 13 boards and three assists in a victory at Lenoir-Rhyne. The senior added two more triples and collected 17 points, 11 rebounds and five steals against Queens University.

Marosites is averaging 19.5 points and 12.5 rebounds in 14 contests this year for the Eagles.
